Re: How do you handle ...
As a grandparent myself I'd never interfere, not my place, although my wife and I may moan to each other in private. However what form is the interference taking? If it's just talk then you can nod your head and then just keep doing things your way (after all they're your kids).

Arabic style : "yes that's a great idea, I'll do that." ... Then don't do it.

Say "Look (insert name here), you messed up bringing me/dh up, we don't want to make the same mistakes with mitten as you did with us".
That'll larn 'em!

Get onto the Italian thread about grandparents and you'll know what interfering really means. One poor mother came home to find that the grandma had decided to give the granddaughter a fringe and had lopped half her hair off
I'm lucky with mine but there are still plenty of old biddies on the streets that tell you what to do. I just say "si si si" and then carry on doing things my own way. I do realise that it would be harder if I had a person on my back each and everyday though.

From a grown up's, there's a big difference between helping out and being a right, royal, interfering, pain in the neck.

I have the opposite problem - my two (both adults now) don't like my mother and rarely see her. She also lives 100 miles away, which doesn't help.
