Default Hide the cutlery

ABU DHABI // A leading policeman yesterday advised husbands who are cheating – or considering cheating – on their wives to hide all sharp kitchen utensils in case they get found out.

The warning came after a woman allegedly attempted to murder her Malaysian husband with a kitchen knife when she discovered he was having an affair.

He is in hospital where he was said to be in a critical condition.

Lt Col Jomaa Al Kaabi, head of psychological crimes unit at Abu Dhabi CID, warned married men who are planning to cheat on their wives to avoid keeping any sharp kitchen utensils.

Police received a call from the couple’s Emirati neighbour on Sunday night about an altercation in front of his apartment. The blood-covered M D, 56, was knocking on the neighbour’s door trying to escape from his wife.

Police and ambulances attended the scene, which is believed to have been in the Al Reef development outside the city.

Lt Col Al Kaabi said the neighbour and the building’s security guard were able to subdue the wife, R Q, 51. Police said she later confessed, and has been referred to public prosecution.

Forensic evidence was taken from the scene, including the knife police believe was used in the attack.

Police said the wife told them she suffers from a chronic illness that causes her stress and excessive anger, which impaired her mental capacities at the time of the alleged incident.

The National had quite a promising start as a newspaper and whilst still the best locally it is increasingly becoming a joke

Surely the point of the article is pointing out the ridiculous statement from the CID chap?

Yes, a man saying silly words is much worse than a wife stabbing her husband because he bumped uglies with her BFF.

Who said that?

The story itself has already been reported and this was a follow up.

Another little gem today, the Police suggesting banning cycling on roads with more than a 50kph speed limit and allowing cycling on the pavement. It must be too difficult to educate drivers.

The only way that article could be more satirical is if an extra paragraph was put after:

Police said the wife told them she suffers from a chronic illness that causes her stress and excessive anger, which impaired her mental capacities at the time of the alleged incident.
in the form of:

Prosecutors warned that PMT is not a valid defence though and urged more women to protect themselves by hiding the knives from themselves when the red flag was flying
