Long story short. I'm looking at setting up a new free zone company with a partner.

3 main business areas, 2 under consulting so no real issues there but 1 under a category that is a schrodinger like category. It exists, doesn't exist, isn't possible but is perfectly possible all at the same time. That issue aside two free zone have come up.

Dubai south and um al qwain. I haven't even heard of um al qwain free zone so am wary and would prefer Dubai based for many reasons including visas, car registration etc.

Has anyone anything to say good or bad about these two options?

Either a PA type role or a decluttering/tidying/organising set up. I know someone who has a small company doing the latter in Dubai and seems to make a living from it.

You really can outsource just about anything here.


Shiva, I have never come across anyone registered in an UAQ freezone and I deal with a lot of small businesses. Fujeirah has visa options for just about everything including "organising",

RAK free zone is very popular here in AD. The even have a branch in Abu Dhabi Mall to help you set up.

Yes it's the decluttering option. Likewise re UAQ hence my concern.
How's the situation re Fujairah and car registration, rental agreements in Dubai etc?

I've only ever been registered in Dubai so I've literally no idea how it would make any difference if at all

We set up a RAK free zone company a few years ago when Dubai changed its mind about allowing expat home owners to have residence based on home ownership. Whilst we used the services of a company to do this it would have been possible to do it ourselves but we were happy to pay someone else to do all the leg work for us. I do believe though that they have an office somewhere around the Festival Mall area - I think we once dropped a cheque off there but I can't for the life of me remember where. When we did have to go to RAK Free Zone offices in RAK we found everybody extremely helpful, and that includes all the people involved in getting our Emirates ID cards, too.

Driving licences, car insurance etc remained unchanged despite the fact that we had a visa from a RAK free zone company but still lived in Dubai.

having watched the programme a few times, it's clear there is a pattern to the type of people who live like that ie extremely dirty, untidy, hoarders etc and I wouldn't have thought an expat or an arab would fall into that category.

Shiva, did you look in to DMCC?
They recently won "best free zone in the world" and are very good, customer service centre is excellent, fast turnaround (a visa submitted last week onllne was submitted to Immigration and approved within 24 hours), a very good online portal etc.
Highly recommended. Annual trade license fees are around 17,500 dependent on activity.

not really but given the conflicting info we are getting everything is back on the cards again for another round of who can confuse me and themselves the most
