Eric Prince , founder of Blackwater Inc, moved to Abu Dhabi and is contracted by AD crown prince to form mercenary army to deal with internal and external problems.
For the moment they will be used to instill fear (more than usual) amongst the vast menial labour force. At some point they will come in handy to squash Emirati nationals who question their government and to assist the Bahraini elite in putting down the Shia.
Blackwater changed their name to Xe after the Iraq civilian killings shone the spotlight on them, but that wasn't the only issue with BW.

Eric Prince has been portrayed here (US) by some Mainstream Media as having ties and sympathies to far right Christian groups, so it is ironic that the UAE gives him a home base after he and his company got a lot of heat in the US due to various shaddy stuff.

This is not really surprising if one is somewhat familiar with the US far right Christian scene.

So I figure when Sheik Muhammed Al Nahyan meets Eric Prince for the 1st time, the conversation went something like this..
Sheik Mo: Hey I'm a Prince and you're a Prince too.
Mr. Prince, who resettled here last year after his security business faced mounting legal problems in the United States, was hired by the crown prince of Abu Dhabi to put together an 800-member battalion of foreign troops for the U.A.E., according to former employees on the project, American officials and corporate documents obtained by The New York Times.
The force is intended to conduct special operations missions inside and outside the country, defend oil pipelines and skyscrapers from terrorist attacks and put down internal revolts, the documents show. Such troops could be deployed if the Emirates faced unrest or were challenged by pro-democracy demonstrations in its crowded labor camps or democracy protests like those sweeping the Arab world this year.

The former employee also alleges that Prince "views himself as a Christian crusader tasked with eliminating Muslims and the Islamic faith from the globe," and that Prince's companies "encouraged and rewarded the destruction of Iraqi life."

“To that end, Mr. Prince intentionally deployed to Iraq certain men who shared his vision of Christian supremacy, knowing and wanting these men to take every available opportunity to murder Iraqis. Many of these men used call signs based on the Knights of the Templar, the warriors who fought the Crusades.
Mr. Prince operated his companies in a manner that encouraged and rewarded the destruction of Iraqi life. For example, Mr. Prince's executives would openly speak about going over to Iraq to "lay Hajiis out on cardboard." Going to Iraq to shoot and kill Iraqis was viewed as a sport or game. Mr. Prince's employees openly and consistently used racist and derogatory terms for Iraqis and other Arabs, such as "ragheads" or "hajiis."
