have the Charge 2 and its been useful. Just upgraded to the Garmin Fenix 5 though as I wanted something that looked a bit less girly and could be used in the pool. Keep in mind that you cannot use Fitbits when swimming. You could look at the Garmin vivosmart 3 as another alternative if you want to swim with it.

I have a Charge 2 and wear it almost all the time, it (probably all of them (fitness trackers)) may not be the most accurate thing in the world, however, I use mine as a motivator, a guide.
Currently I've set myself a Ramadan challenge - x number of steps, active mins, floors, press-ups etc per day. I'd like to get my resting heart rate down to 52 which is where it was last year... I have a bit to go!

If they so the job and make people more active then it's great , they are limited though and the heart rate function is not needed if you're not specifically looking at the HR data whilst training.
I use a Suunto HR chest trap , it's invaluable if you're training for any type of endurance to measure data especially looking at training on long runs or rides where you need to keep your HR in the specific zone, or you want to interval train through different HR zones.
Plus it's great in this weather as you can adjust speed/pace on effort .

Update on the Garmin Fenix 5. very inaccurate during interval training. average heart rate 30bpm lower than my Myzone belt and Calories burned only half.
Myzone and the fitbit charge 2 always showed very similar results.
will try again tonight. have linked the myzone belt to the watch but don't think it will work in the myzone equipped gym.

Why do I see fat people wearing these watches and tracking all this weird data, but not thin people?
I see thin people using running watch (when running) and a chest-based heart rate monitor (when in the gym).

Most people that i've seen wear them are fully active and work out on a regular basis and hence aren't fat/large.

Husband has lost 8kg and back to Uni weight since getting his fenix3 and tracking his data. V proud of him.
I've got an apple2 watch as everything else is too big for my wrist. It's pretty good and does everything I need in a sports watch.

Not having a dig. My basic feeling is that they are like superfoods and healthy options. Designed to make you feel better but ultimately don't do anything.
Many of my family members are massively overweight but will all tell you proudly how they get their 5 a day, whole grains, omega etc.
Most goals on these things are set either way too low or way too high as well.

The FitBit Charge 2 lets you set your own goals, so, if you only want to do 5000 steps per day, set it to that.

As i said before if they help people then great as it's a good tool especially the fitness trackers .
You do need to track , measure and monitor data if you're serious about any type of fitness programme but that could be a range of anything .
