It's probably just to make some VIP Emiratis happier due to concerns over their dwindling share of the population whereas in reality nothing will be done.

Low skilled expats must cost them next to nothing - no social benefits, no social housing, no schooling, health care is the companies' burden, unemployed are kicked out of the country. It's a win-win situation for them.

I read a similar thing in a Kuwaiti newspaper last week and some of the figures included were just laugh out loud funny... for a population of 1.3 million Kuwaitis there are 700,000 maids.. had to laugh, though the maids are probably the safest sector, I mean.. who's going to work the tv remote if they get rid of the maids first.!!?
