I'm curious, has any tried or is currently doing EMS Training (Electronic Muscle Stimulation).

If you are, or know of it, what do you reckon?

Looks ridiculous and doesn't work. If are you looking to lose weight

a) 90% Diet (Stop drinking alcohol)
b) 10% Workout. Meet my good friend Sean T https://www.beachbody.com/product/fi...ms/insanity.do

not looking to loose weight.....was just curious to know what people think of this, since I see it regularly on my FB newsfeed.

I am not sure I would entirely agree that it doesn't work...from what I've read so far it does appear to work, if you want to loose weight and tone up, but of course it has to do be done in conjunction with a good diet.

weight loss is all about diet and cardio
if you want to look good while doing it then go to the gym
me, I dont need any of that since I am one lean mean seed-producing machine!!

Mission - it is total BS.

Lift real weights for toning, shape and weight loss.

Doesn't really matter if you do low-weight high rep or high weight low-rep. As a woman, you are quite unlikely to bulk up unless you are eating loads or have a hormone problem.

It's also a slightly weird and painful experience.

All about food. General feeling amongst PTs is that it's not Cardio but resistance that gets the results nose people want. Cardio is used to warm up for the weights.

How does one put on weight, like Christian Bale did after he starved himself for the Machinist and how other actors put on weight/muscle mass?

Do those protein shakes work at all?

Yes, they do.

If you want to really put some weight on you might struggle to eat the amounts you need to. Shakes can help with this a great deal.

You've got to stop sounding so confident when you're incorrect...people might listen to you

Woah Woah Scampy, I am correct. It is 90% diet, nearly every gym enthusiast/PT/ etc says the same.

You cannot out train a bad diet. You have to quit alcohol, you have to eat green and lean meats. You might not like it, but thats the truth. In many cases you can reduce your gym output to 4-5 sessions a week at 45mins long as long as its high intensive training.

I talk alot of shite on this forum, but this is one thing i know very well.

Edit

Just read your shake comment, thats the biggest con in the business

I have used EMS before but it depends what you want to use it for:

Strength training - use 10 sec with 50 sec rest seems to be the best (and well researched) with a 6 week cycle

Fat burning - absolutely useless as it "burns" the fat under the skin (about 2mm) and in a day or 2 the fat returns back. Diet and weights are the key there.

I wasn't disagreeing with anything you said, apart from the shake bit.

For a lot of folk they can add a lot of value. Dismissing them is wrong.

I am flat out saying they are a con (and i even take them as a meal replacement supplement). It'd be alot better to eat lean Chicken or Turkey than that rubbish. Also your body can only digest a certain amount of protein before it just turns in straight into...fat!

You keep drinking your protein shake, with your smelly farts thinking it's getting you bigger. It's not.

Choose hydrolyzed whey isolates without lactosis.
