Welcome to a thread in which you can generally moan and whinge in any way you wish about your 'local' airline..............

True, there are many very good things about EK - mostly, the service is good.... BUT the ticket prices are getting silly now (a colleague was recently quoted AED 24,950 for DXB-LHR-DXB Business Class return - he chose Gulf Air via Bahrain for under 10,000).

Also - I was hearing stories about EK refusing to compensate travellers for delayed flights. Wasn't sure of the details but The Guardian has picked up on it:

I'm having a battle with Etihad over compensation for being bumped off a flight from Milan in 2011 on which we had valid tickets (albeit Alitalia code share - poor relation). Wife and kids managed to travel. I was bumped off and stuck in a motel for the night. As flight originated from Europe they should pay compo under EU regs. Alitalia blame Etihad. Etihad have yet to respond.

Whilst I agree with a lot of your post, re Business Class tickets, I just can't, EK are run like any other organisation, they will provide the ticket for the price the market will stand, and there are many organisations/people here who will just accept it and pay.

Supply and demand as they say, why should they sell them at 10k when they can get 32k?

Doesn't make sense from a business point of view.

Correct , you can fly DOH - BKK B/Class for 7,000 QAR on a 6 hr flight yet the premium LHR route is anything between 24-32,000 QAR .

well not doubting what was quoted to you mate
but a standard search for dxb - lhr - dxb in business through their website gives an average cost of between 12k and 14k (business)

http://fly10.emirates.com/CAB/IBE/ResultByPrice.aspx

or maybe the quote was through a ticketing agent?

I like EK and Qatar airlines because their entertainment systems are better than any other that I've experienced.

Use them flying from doha to Dubai every week. Until last week you could get flights at 710 qar, now 920 is lowest price even when looking weeks ahead

Priced for July Dubai to Glasgow return £975, Glasgow to Dubai return at same time, £565!!
