Re: Emirates cuts flights
A few things:
1. Yep, their staff can be as bad and worse than the 64yr old BA types.
2. That's offensively expensive, but it's direct which is what you want for a short trip...
3. I'm in a similar boat, tomorrow I find out when Mum's first chemo is and will be Fri or Mon. Neither are cheap / reasonable direct.
4. Don't convert it back to pounds. You'll be ****ing crucified.

2. Totally. Add on the hire car for 3 days, casino spends and the bling (9.1 rating on Booking.com) hotel I just booked.... plus the stopover in Amsterdam for the afternoon on the way back and its an pretty expensive weekend.
3. Shit sorry fella. Hope she batters the hell out of it.
4. Agreed. But I know how you like it so much!
Obviously I went with KLM. Only a kick in the arse of Emirates (at their current level), I get points, the trolley dollys are nice (in looks and temperament) and they're cheap. Whats not to like? Plus I get a nice lunch and a wander round the Dam. A quick transfer was available for the same rate but I pipped for a 6hr break.
Never done BA Premium Economy. Did Virgin Economy a few years ago and it was decent. Quite a bit more room. As I'm 5'10" at best and although wide in the shoulder my overall body mass is reducing nicely at the mo so as long as I don't have a fatty next to me I'll live, especially if I go for the window or aisle.
I'd go for that - see above. I quite often go KLM these days.

Booked Air France for the Summer flights back home. Buiness there and Premium Eco for the flight back. works out the same as Eco on Emirates.

Re: Emirates cuts flights
Back on topic, my MiL refused to fly with Etihad a few years ago as "they sound like terrorists". A facepalm moment.

Re: Emirates cuts flights
Has she flown a lot? We had family over here from Brazil a few years ago that had arrived with Air France. Their return was rescheduled and it turned out they were flying back with Etihad on the direct flight and were really concerned about flying on a Middle Eastern airline for pretty much the same reason.

Meh. Every country throws up its share of arsehole passengers. My niece has been cabin crew for Emirates for 8 years and tells us about her more 'interesting' passengers.
Not long after take-off on one flight, a woman (none of the nationalities above) buzzed for a flight attendant. My niece went to see what she wanted, and was handed a plastic cup full of shit and told to take it away.
She has some funny stories too. She asked a couple which meal they wanted, vegetable or chicken. Head suitably wobbling, the man answered "I am a wege-e-table, and my wife is a chicken"

Re: Emirates cuts flights
err how does that happen?? did the woman in question take a shit while she was sitting in her seat? - positioning the cup directly under her a-hole and then taking the dump? surely the shit would have gone all over her hand? And what about the passenger/s sat next to her?? Or did she take the dump in the toilet in the cup and bring the cup back to her seat....something just doesn't smell right with this story.

well had you said it was her kid's shit in the first place, then the story would have been a lot more plausible.
