Gangnam Style, or so I'm told, is meant to be something of a parody anyway.....

That video - a kid singing in Vietnamese (or whatever it's called) requiring Vietnamese subtitles does not augur well........

You are watching a Vietnamese singing contest for kids called "ĐÔ RÊ MÍ" (Do, Re, Mi/ C, D, E). And as a kid show, sometime kid's pronunciation are not very well. Because of that, the show added subtitles to help viewers. (and also allure viewers downloading the song via SMS)...

Gangam Style was indeed a bit of a parody and a jibe at the pop culture / world of music or something...I read that too.

Either which way. I ****ing love it.

C'ommon, don't be so serious. It is just a kid show.

Great isn't it!

There's a vid of the dude rocking some stadium in Seoul on you tube. Looks mental.

Psy says the song is a parody of the posers and wannabes in a posh Seoul district.
Korean Americans / other Asian American netziens familair with K-Pop (Korean Pop) say the song also takes a dig at the highly manufactured/fake nature of K-Pop.

Yeah, it's a parody, and a damn funny one.

I mean...

"A girl who is classy enough to chill with a cup of coffee" (커피 한잔의 여유를 아는 품격 있는 여자) [mocking the culture in Gangnam which is all about people hanging around trying to look good - I love it there, btw]

followed by

"[I'm] A man who slams his coffee in one shot, before it gets cold" (커피 식기도 전에 원샷 때리는 사나이) [What. A. Man.]

And of course, my favourite line:

"[I'm] A man whose ideas bulge more than his muscles" (근육보다 사상이 울퉁불퉁한 사나이)

Also, he doesn't sing "I love you" (사랑해) once - in contrast to EVERY OTHER K-POP SONG EVER.
