Default Car won't start - car repairer call out?

Started the day badly...my car won't start and its down in our building's multistorey car park...so I can't get a recovery vehicle (too high).

I need an auto repairer to come on site to fix the car (a bit like AA or RAC do)...does anyone know of anyone? Yellow pages not of much use.

Thanks

Check your insurance policy as AXA sent out a guy to repair ours when it broke down last year.

What's wrong? Do you have power? Does it turn over or not?

..full battery power..when starting the starter motor just clicks..I'm told it might be a solenoid problem (dirty contacts) rather than the starter motor.

Try spraying WD40 on the solenoid, battery terminals and starter motor. Sounds daft, but often works!

Agency repairs refers to where the car is repaired in the event of an accident. Without it; the insurer can have any "bodge it n leg it" repairer do the work with non-genuine parts. Tick that box next time, mate!

Also helps to dislodge sand and anything else that causes a break in the connection. WD40 improves connectivity...allegedly!

Depending on the make of car, you may have a road side assistance package included. Volvo, Ford, Jaguar and Land Rover do for sure cos I know the service provider. Others may also have this. Worth checking with your dealer.

...gave up in the end after phoning around for 3 hours...everyone refused to come to my car in the multistorey car park at my tower residence...recovery vehicles can't get in because of height restrictions...bought the parts (i.e., starter solenoid) myself and will fit them tomorrow.

Good luck to any other BE trying to get their car fixed at home.
