Default Car Insur

Apologies folks for bringing this up a year on, but it's that time of the year where i have to renew my car insurance. If anyone can recommend a company, i would be very grateful.
My current premium cost me AED 5,194 (via Zurich) based on an insured value of AED 207k
I've had one quote from Axa for a premium of AED 6,103 based on an insured value of AED 187k
In addition by how much of a decrease, on the value of my car, should i seek the insurance to be based on ie 10%, 15% or 20%? I brought the car for AED 245k back in 2015
Thanks.

10% per anal, usually
if you switch insurer you can reset the value
A 245k, 2015 model is worth... wait for it... 130k, so your premium should half due to that
talk to Ken at insureme.ae

are you serious it's actually a 2016 model, but i brought it at the back end of 2015 - not sure if that makes any difference

so it's a 2016 not a 2015.

Then it's worth around 170-160k. Try selling it if you don't believe me.

This year my renewal was expensive, but that's because the laws / rules around something to do with what an insurer can charge you for changed....so everyone's renewal has gone up.....it's just more expensive than it used to be.

i am not doubting you mate i just want to know what reasonable value i should have the insurance based on. Around AED 170k-180k would seem ok?

Those quotes sound very high. Do you have a poor claims history? I managed to keep my premium the same this year as last by browbeating my current insurer with an alternative quote and my no-claims history (10 years plus in Dubai though I think only 5 matters). I was pretty aggressive though as I was adamant it should decrease - the new rules worked against that.

nope not had any accidents - the lowest quote i have received so far is from Oman Insur and its AED 4,500,
which i might just go for

I think I'm right in saying it doesn't matter who the front is, it's the underwriter / insurer behind them. EG: you may find that they are really Oman INsurance Co or Axa etc etc.
