Ok so tell me what you best ever Hot Hatch is, you must have a stroy to go with the car, if so we'd love to hear all about it.

My favourite was my MK3 Escort XR3i, lowered with 17" TSW 3 Spokes and a big bore 4.

Library Image

That was the best times I can remember, just passed my test, sound system on, driving anywhere and everywhere with my mates, going raving, random roadtrips in the middle of the night.

Sweet

No Lancia Delta Intergrale? Also you should have offered an Alfa Romeo, their hatchbacks where pretty nippy.

I did consider them, but only had 15 options and was also trying to stick to the more common models.

I knew this might crop up, the Lancia nearly made it in instead of the Capri.

Not much to debate is there?

Mk1 Golf Gti (1.8 campaign edition in Lhasa green) is the greatest hot hatch in history.

Mk2 Gti 16v (big bumpers) is also in the top three

Capri 2.8i was shit off a hot shovel but handled like a bag of nails. Had to weigh down the boot to keep it going in a straight line. But it was fun!

Escort XR3i was a real boy racer with those go faster stripes along the sills.

205GTi was a nifty little thing and handled reasonably well, but of them all, I'd need to vote for the Cosworth although still prefer the Cortina E.

Pure jokes was my Pearl White Manta GTE, mate that thing used to be more sideways than a Glance.

I loved it, wicked fun!

1.9 was a killer...At the same time during the early nineties, my fiends had a Renault GT Turbo, which we nicknamed "La Mouche" (The fly), another had the Pug GTI 1.9, and another had a red VW GTI 8v (big bumper)...I was their favourite co-pilot...
Then got myself an Audi 90 2.3 20V beast...Wow...

Capri changes hands for good money now, there isn't much that is rear wheel drive and as much of a handful on the road .

It's like a TVR for people who value their lives .

VW Golf??

Any model, any spec, any year...............

........... the most overrated car of all time.

There was a real obsession with German cars back then - it was also when Audi made a major breakthrough, and people realised BMW could compete with Mercedes Benz.

Time for some revisionist thinking........... I think..............

No...Golf is always the benchmark for the hot hatches...And the MarkV GTI is the best yet to come...Even Jeremy Clarkson thinks so...
