Default Beetroot anyone?

I'm sure it’s a generational thing: my kids will eat almost anything (cold curry for breakfast, eels, roe, octopus, gizzards—even green vegetables if they're really pushed), but I can't even get them to TRY beetroot. So, d'you love it or hate it?

And you draw your own line between Young , Middle-Aged and Youthful, the latter being there coz I'm still piqued at Kittycat's recent categorisation of the over 51's as one group. Kid's today…

Same here, 'Old Farts who Love Beetroot!' - You add the vinegar after it has cooled, and then leave it for several weeks! - It puts the 'Fart' back in old!

Poll has to be middle aged & young...because there's something about beetroot and it's sexier than you think:

1. In many cultures there is a belief that if a man and woman eat from the same beetroot then they will fall in love.

2. In the main brothel in Pompeii the walls are adorned with frescoes showing sexual positions intermingled with drawings of beetroots. You can still see them if you go there.

3. There's an old saying that if you go to "take favours in the beetroot fields", then you are going to visit a prostitute.

Though, eating too much beetroot can make both your pee and poo pink !

Going for the 'youthful and love' category, although hate the jarred vinegar stuff. Has to be fresh and boiled and served chilled. Or raw, mandolined and deep fried as a crisp with a very light tempura batter.

Love, Love, Love beetroot, whether fresh (boiled and chilled) or pickled.

Also love pickled red cabbage.

Favourite winter tea : meat and potato pie with a thick pastry crust and lashings of beetroot and pickled cabbage.

and great on a burger (though not as good as pineapple).

What's middle-aged? I've put myself in that bracket as i'm sure 37 ain't in the youngest category.

I've never tried it. Look a little weird for my liking. The Mrs likes it mind, either pickled or as a chutney.

It's a bit like eggs & shellfish. They just look horrible and I've never had the urge to even taste them.

Pineapple on a burger is just fundamentally wrong. To this date I've not met a bloke who would disagree either, maybe it's a female thing?

Are you suggesting that the Youthful / 51+ group aren't into love and sex?
