Most BBC radio stations have a listen again or listen live facilty that doesn't require iPlayer.

I like iPlayer as everything listed in one area. I think what im getting at is are BBC stations censored/blocked so iPlayer etc wont work. Has anyone out there tried it?

You need to get an account with a UK-based VPN service to watch BBC iPlayer while in Doha. Search the ME forum and Sandpit for VPN !

OK this sounds good advice, but as regards censorship there wont be any? Not that the BBC is that radical or porno - at least by 'our' standards

It's not so hard to go to the website of the station you want to listen to & no requirement for a VPN. I am in the UAE, but as far as I am aware no BBC sites are blocked in Qatar.

No censorship at all from ME countries as your internet connects via the UK from a UK ISP/server !

Can someone please PM me with some recommended VPN providers? I have come across a few in my searches and the prices vary quite a bit. We head out to Doha in 6 weeks to join my DH and I would like it all set up on the pc before we get there.

If you are into radio then maybe look at picking up a wireless internet radio device in the UK. Ok it may set you back £100+ - but it will give you access to over 2500+ radio stations (including the BBC) and it will work independently from your computer.

It's next on my shopping list.

There are tons of BBC Radio torrents on some of the more popular UK download sites. Generally the programmes are on there within 24 hours of broadcast. Don't want to mention my favourite in case the TRA jump in and block it

You are really making this into hard work! On the BBC websites you can listen again to up 90% of programmes for up to 7 days after they are aired without iPlayer or any other fancy gadget.
