Well the US has a Naval HQ in Bahrain and the US is pro freedom and democrasy, ergo Bahrain is telling the truth.

Saudi Arabia, which deploys a special police force to ensure that only one narrow sect of Islam predominates in the kingdom, is sponsoring a discussion at the United Nations on religious tolerance starting Wednesday after a nice lunch and ending shortly before afternoon tea.
Mind you, a pretty slack opening from the NYT: ensuring that only one sect predominates. Be a bit difficult for more than one to predominate, but there you go...

And yet most of the torture of rendition occurred in Libya, Tunisia, Thailand and all the places you'd actually expect to be quite practiced in the art
