Default Advice on saying 'Grace'

I've been asked to say 'Grace' at a wedding reception (in the UK) on Saturday.

Not sure how to pitch it..........

The couple are both divorced, neither is particularly religious (although it's a church wedding), and there will be both very elderly and very young people present.

Any suggestions please?

Too dull........... and frankly too religious. I'm happy to 'give thanks' in a general way, but was hoping to avoid 'God', 'Lord', etc.

Came to my mind as well before I saw your post, concluding with:

"...for Jesus Christ's sake Amen!"

Exactly what we used to parrot at primary school, along with:

"seven and sixpence please in the morning" for our (weekly) dinner money.

The trouble is, I appear to have acquired a reputation for being a 'witty' and 'original' speaker , which is why I have been asked. I don't think they'll be impressed if I just say something a third-rate curate from Bognor Regis could easily have come up with...........

Still working on it............

For what we are about to receive,
for what we already have
and for what we will gain in the future
be grateful and count your blessings everyday ........... now tuck in and enjoy your meal.

Something about blessings isn't religious so could be an idea.

May we thank God for the good fortune to be friends and relatives of those gathered here today.
May we thank God for the abundance which permits us to sit and eat with our friends and relatives.
And may we thank God for the opportunity to sleep...safely in our beds.

Rubia-dub-dub Thanks for the grub, hooray God

Over the teeth and through the gums look out stomach here it come

God of goodness, bless our food,
Keep us in a pleasant mood.
Bless the cook and all who serve us.
From indigestion, Lord preserve us.

Lord may we eat all we are able
Until our stomachs touch the table

Heavenly father, keep us alive. There`s ten for dinner and food for five.
