Default The 30th anniversary of...........

(well, 30 years tomorrow, actually)

........ the release of Ghost Town by the Specials. Lots of stuff in the press at the moment about how the song 'defined the era', 'voice of the street making itself heard', 'took music out of the boardrooms', etc.

Seminal landmark record - or over-rated?

I remember buying that 7 inch from a record shop in a shopping centre in Crawley which was rather apt. We were cub camping in Tilgate Forest at the time - no other reason to visit Crawley. Quite vivid memories as my grandad died that week and Ghost Town reminds me of him.

Had a great B side if i remember.

I vote seminal landmark record.

Still listen to it regularly today. As I do with Run DMC + Aerosmith ' Walk This Way'. Released in 1984, not far from the 30 yr mark either.

Their debut album from 1979 'The Specials' still sounds raw and fresh , there's so many good tracks on that album , i still listen to it today and it sounds as good as ever

But she died 21 years ago - bit too retro? Dean only tends to do 'modern day deaths'.
