The court also ordered the defendants to pay the couple Dh10,000 and Dh2,000 to the Syrian man. Medical reports confirmed that the female victim sustained five per cent permanent disability in her jaw.

Article does mention a civil suit referal to Dubai Civil court. Wonder how much that is going to dent their pocket. With well off Emiratis, punishment based on forking out money is not a deterrent.

Also bear in mind that the ****ers failed to turn up in court about 8 times, and I think it was only the threat of their being tried in absentia that probably made them turn up. Surprised its not in the Daily Fail yet...

I agree with you but to be fair..., the Daily Squirrel (subsidiary of Dail Mail) did manage to badger the Squirrel Council of Middlesex until punishment was delivered to 2 Grey squirrels who were part of a gang that killed a Black squirrel.
