Default Collecting a UK pension in St Lucia

If for want of a UK bank account or remitter in the UK via Western Union one has to receive a UK pension in the mail in St Lucia, what procedures must I be prepared for when I go to the bank with my cheque?

Are there charges/deductions from the gross amount before it is converted into EC dollars?
