To understand Europe, it's very useful to understand their humour...

Very droll.
Making fun of stereotypes isn't only the preserve of mainland Europeans.
The English have been doing that to the Irish, Welsh and Scots for at least 50 years.

I used to have loads of Anglo Indian Sikh Hindu etc jokes, everyone has a target, I never realised that our Irish are thick jokes are duplicated in Ireland as Kerry man jokes, but in Kerry there's a town where the thick people are supposed to live. Wheels in wheels.

So regulations dont count lol... But full marks for attempting to slide it in without a proper named link, very european commission.
Define 'properly-named link'
What the link was named did not change the content.
MEP's - a proper gravy train, some never attend, like the euro skeptics they only joined to abstain, others make sure they are on the 8am in and 6.05pm flight out [or they cant claim the 550 euros full attendance plus expenses] but they only vote on massive papers they couldnt be bothered to read written by the real rulers, the commission.
That's not actually much different to the UK Parliament when you replace 'the commission' with 'the Prime Minister's cabinet'
Long held british political maxim - the more people in the room, the less gets done, more chance to sneak in an ammendment at 4am, more chance to divide and cure their corns, problem is the eurovision effect, the eastern blocks help themselves and their neighbours, the germans vote with the british - often, the pigs just want more money and they know who has to supply it.
It's not just British politics. It was a common thought in meeting I attended 25 yearts ago.
[imagine if thatcher and merkel ever got together, by now germany and the uk would own the eu]

No you misunderstand, thatcher would have signed, but what she eventually signed would have been a whole different matter... Playing the glorious game was her delight, and just imagine 2 iron ladies running Germany and the U.K.

I disagree. She would have only signed if it was on her terms, which the majority of the other signatories wouldn't have signed.
