Is there a professional body you could contact in the UK?
Possibly something like this:
Standing Committee on Psychology Education for Other Groups | BPS

Not the case. I came back to the UK after 30 years in the US. All you need to do is register with a GP if you have an NI number, your perm address and maybe your UK passport. My American wife she is also with a GP and has had a couple of visit's to a hospital for a couple of test's..... so don't worry on that score you will be ok.
Regards
John
