Default A single piece of music

don't know if this one has been covered before ... here goes

I have one single piece of music - its a song as well as an instrumental that has been with me (etched in my brain) for more than 50 years.

The particular tune that I have is one that I can recall at anytime, day or night, one that can calm me down, lift me up, give me the get up & go, wake me from a deep sleep - even put me to sleep.

One that I can hum to myself at the birth of a child, a wedding, divorce, death of a loved one or dear friend, at a funeral, or at a crisis or crossroad in my life. It could also be my single desert island song

Name your single piece of music - no reason or explanation needed. It can be anything .....

Comfortably Numb, from The Wall, by Pink Floyd

I gave my piece of music, it wasn't for folks to guess, nor a debate or make this thread a wind-up ... simple OP

what is your piece of music Bristol?

I have stated mine, as have Elizabeth & Polly

Anyone else have that one piece of music, if so, then post it please

I know...I meant at first, when I started reading your first post
what is your piece of music Bristol?
I can't say there is one that does all those things.

In my younger day I always felt Lynyrd Skynyrd's 'Free Bird' would be a good song to depart to.

Other than that all I have are pieces or songs that bring an instant memory of some time or event. I say 'songs' but I don't mean lyrically.

So difficult to select just one song as my music tastes have evolved over the years (ahem, decades). But if it were to fit the criteria as being up there both then and now, probably Comfortably Numb.

For all of the above reasons .

Elizabethan Serenade. Ronald Binge.

It's been there in the treasure box inside my mind for over 50 years, since I was a small child.

It will be at my final farewell.

No offense meant to original poster.. I had never heard of person you mentioned and saw did Wikipedia. I saw he had written the song and even listened to it on YouTube.. I'm still thinking for now of that one special piece.

love that piece, makes me want to go back to Spanish dancing again! There is no one piece of music for me although it would definitely be classical! Music is just the most precious expression mankind has ever come up with! Team that with pictures of fine art and that would be my heaven!

Feelbritish I feel same about music as you. Lifts my spirits when needed and calms my restless mind and soul.. N2old I cannot come up with 1 piece but ditto on classical but got to also add in anything by The Chairman of the Board - Francis Albert Sinatra. As for songs one that always cheers me up is A Wonderful World by Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong. Anything by him is just brill..
