Re: OVER 50's+ MOVING BACK TO THE UK - Part II
Thanks everyone for the kind wishes about our flight. I don't know where the flight tracker thread is, but our flight is United Airlines from Newark on Friday night. It leaves at about 7.30 and gets into Manchester the following morning.
It's a bit nutty here - half our stuff is being loaded into a truck as we speak - eeek! We still have phones and Internet but no TV and that's fine because the sofas are gone so there's nowhere to sit to watch it anyway
The cats have been shut away for the day, so when we finally let them out, they're going to wonder what on earth happened to their house, poor mites.
Tomorrow is packing and organizing. We're selling our car to a friend so he's coming to pick it up tomorrow night. Then he's coming back on Friday to pick up stuff we're not taking that he wants, and a junk removal firm are coming to clear out the last bits and pieces. We should have a few hours to relax on Friday before we leave for the airport. I can't wait for it all to be over!

Ive just checked flightracker and flightaware, they have different info, they are ten minutes apart, I thought this stuff was factual...
Flightaware still shows 2 hrs 21 mins as they were late taking off...
Must be nice living on the East coast, six and half hours to get home, a piece of cake.

Some make it back, some are still in the process and some can only dream........
It's a huge emotional rollercoaster and it's great to come here to get support and to talk to people who TRULY understand how it feels to live in a country that is not your home but where you have ended up living.
Welcome to this wonderful thread, started by Trotty True. Anybody heard from her lately? Rodney?? Charleygirl??

Hi guys, we're home. Can't write much because it's time for bed, but just wanted to say that we're all happy and healthy, cats included. We love the place we're staying although obviously we haven't seen too much of the area yet. We met the lady who will be our neighbor for the next 6 weeks and she was very sweet and friendly. My husband said 'we talked to her more in one day than we talked to any of our neighbors for the last 13 years.'
Everyone we've met so far has been friendly and helpful. From our bedroom window we have a view of the river. It was sunny but cold today.
Will update more when we're settled. Thanks for caring It's really nice to log on and read all these kind messages wishing us well.
