Exactly, although that is picked up on in some of the comments replying to that article.

Probably because they thought Brexit meant exit from Britain!

Agreed . . . I’m reminded of when Paul Keating was Australia’s PM. He wanted nothing to do with Britain, and Irish supporters appeared from all over the place. When Keating was deposed by John Howard, the supporters disappeared just as quickly.

With angst like this between neighbours, how does the EU expect to survive with even more diverse cultures and political differences?

Oh. I think they may rely on democracy. An ancient concept apparently antithetic to English exceptionalism.

The EU is democratic? I thought this was alien to them.

But then, it seems that certain losers in the UK have no concept of democracy either, it must be a 21st century malady.

It seems to me a balanced view. I am sure the BritNats will have a different opinion.

Tony Blair's full speech on Brexit. Do you think the EU can change so that the UK can remain in the EU?

The main difficulties I can see are the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy and the Common Fisheries Policy.

Change, to keep the UK, why bother?
