You are confusing deportation and removal of citizenship. The issues are completely different. If you want to have a conversation about deportation, why don't you start a separate thread, instead of muddying the waters here?

Perhaps you should re-read the title, it does say deportation in the title, so it's perfectly OK to discuss deportation in the thread

The two are inextricably linked, at least for non-EU immigrants - if you remove someone's British citizenship, you remove their right to live in the UK.

Removal of citizenship means they have no leave to be in the UK. They don't their get ILR back when citizenship is removed.

The UK has also been removing ILR from some who applied for British citizenhsip and they are receiving a refusal of citizenship and a letter telling them their ILR has been revoked. The new checks that are now in, showing that they used deception before, even if it was years before. These people too have no leave to remain in the UK.

Being born in the UK to parent who has already naturalised (therefore being born British) and having their citizenship removed, does not give them leave to remain either. They have a claim to the citizenship/s of their non -British parent/s. Removing British citizenship makes it easier to deport them or to not let them back into the UK.

These are not the first migrants/children of migrants that have had British citizenship removed. While they are in jail the UK will already be arranging to deport them as they have no leave to remain. They are not allowed to remain when they lose their citizenship and if out of jail there is no more free NHS, welfare, working, retaining their UK driving licence, housing.

As, I said, formula is hopelessly confusing two issues. He appears to believe that British citizens can be deported. Actually, they can't. It isn't easier to deport someone if you remove their British citizenship, it is the only way it can be done.

But the human rights issues are also different. If a foreign national is deported, they still have somewhere to go. The danger in removing British nationality is that the person will be made stateless. Making someone stateless is not an acceptable punishment for any crime and Britain is a signatory to the 1961 convention against statelessness.

The legislation under discussion is from 2014.

I'm not suggest migrants should have more rights than women, and I haven't seen anyone else say that. You're using a straw man argument. No-one should be attacked, assaulted, raped, murdered or anything else, whether male, female or anything else.

My issue is that any sentence given by law should be no more and no less than that which anyone else would receive, irrespective of gender, race, religion or nationality.

Then again, Citizenship revocation and/or deportation isn't a court sentencing option, it's a political decision.

Removing someone from the UK just to prevent them re-offending is a good argument to open prisons in Antartica.

Well at lease he or she will not re-offend in the UK.

People with dual nationality can by pass this by giving up their other citizenship so that they cannot be remove from the UK.

So you would equate a 16 year old boy who has sex with his 15 year old girl friend of 5 years with the Rochdale/Rotherham/Derby etc. animals?

And making a person stateless won't happen BECAUSE Britain is a signatory to the 1961 convention. It will only happen to those who are of dual nationality (more's the pity).
