Cool Going to KERALA. Property advice

Hello

We are going to move to Kerala in the next few years from the UK.
My partner is an NRI and holds British citizenship. I am British.

We are looking for good advice from people who are there now.

Can a Brit buy property ?
What are the processes ?

We plan to buy a property and guest house in the Trivandrum area.

Regards

Hi, good luck to you, you should not have any problems as your partner is a PIO, it is only PNIOs who have difficulties with residential property.
My advice to you, is to start by reading the RBI website, you should see that as a PIO you have basically the same rights as a PIO resident in India.
Secondly find a good accountant, they will guide you through the process of setting up a company, DIN & PAN numbers etc. When that is done find a good advocate ( Your accountant can probably help).
You should then be able to buy what you want, and get on with your business. Make sure that you have the correct visas (go to the High Commission's site) and do everything correctly, also make sure that your vaccinations are up to date and take advice about malaria threat.
Hope it all turns out well
