I am just about to move to Cavan from England - can anyone share experiences or recommendations for removal companies. Is it best to use an Irish company or a UK based company?

I would reccommend http://www.anyvan.com/. You can select Ireland or UK on top right corner. Sometimes you might have an Irish company delivering to the UK and have an empty van coming back, so you might get a good deal.

It may be worth getting quotes from both to see if there is any cost difference, most companies will work both ways.

You can check out the British Association of Removers website for a list of companies that are members and meet their minimum standards of service and their Trusted Mover reviews site gives some good feedback from previous customers.

I found Irish companies quoted cheaper - Eventually Easymoves.com beat every quote and they weren't a bit perturbed about driving their pantechnicon up a 5ft wide boreen. Or having to trolley everything down our drive which was too steep for the lorry. And they reversed it out again. All with very good humour.
