To add another dimension to the topic:

The house was advertised at 60,000 Euro and I was told that an offer had been received for 61,000.
I offered 65,000, it's, obviously, a repossession, last week and was told today that that offer is unacceptable - work that out!

As an Irish person living in DublĂn, and looking to move down the country, I am amazed at all the bad experiences that potential buyers seem to be having.....I can only put it down to the possibility that the majority of them may have been unlucky enough to be dealing with a breed of "Estate Agents" who "became" agents during the property boom, and who have absolutely no idea of how to conduct the business......Ive bought property in Spain and I had no problem with the purchase, but only because I did my homework first...check out agents properly..other people had major problems....just picking through ads, not checking up on estate agents credentials, etc. You get crooks everywhere.....anyway....I hope any of you that do succeed buying in Ireland are happy when you get here....there are lots of very beautiful houses and great bargains to be had....but please...do your homework first.
