Default Advice needed! Hiring Van From UK to Ireland

Hi, I am moving from Scotland to Cork in the next few months and I am looking into hiring a van to move some belongings over.

I guess it would be a case of loading up driving to Cork via ferry to Belfast then driving back the next day or so. Does anyone know any rough guidelines costwise for this? My other issue: I received a 6mth ban under the Totting up system last May (naughty i know) so I am unsure how this will affect things. Is my license now clean?

Im gonna look into this further with hire companies and DVLA but thought I'd post this up here to see if anyone has any relevant experience or knowledge that would be of help.

Thanks

Do you want to HIRE a van or hire a removals company to do the move for you, if the latter best thing to do is to ring around and get multiple quotes from specialist cross channel moves. The interweb will provide a whole plethora of choices.

As with the license, if you've a 6 month ban then I can't see how the Irish licensing authority will issue a license to you. Unless you have a duplicate license. There are many reciprocal agreements between the UK and Ireland, licensing, banking, policing, the list is endless, so running away or dodging old transgressions is not that easy and they can easily catch up with you.

I hate to sound negative but you won't be in big brother land when you get here

We used Andy Thompson too. Had to help with loading/unloading the stuff as he works alone but the price was very good as a result of only having one man. Yes very nice guy. All our stuff arrived safely and was on time both ends of the journey
