Default Travelling from Madrid to Brussels by train

Hi there, I'm planning to do that trip in October (round trip). Any
suggestion about which train or bus to take. I'm looking for the cheapest
option.
regards
Enrique

check out http://www32.germanwings.com/. They do comparatively cheap
flights (around 60-80 euro each way, although fares can be anywhere
between 20 and 120 euro depending on dates) from Madrid to Cologne,
from where it would cost approximately 54 euro for a return train fare
on the Thalys to Brussels (http://b-rail.be). Two hours for the
flight, three on the train.

That option could well work out cheaper than travelling the whole way
by bus or train. It's worth snooping around the site for the cheapest
day if you're flexible in your dates.

Also look into Virgin Express (http://www.virgin-express.com). Non-stop
between Brussels and Madrid. I plugged in a couple days in October and they
were all between 60 and 80 Euros as well.

If I were able to plan in advance for the flight, no chance I'd take the
train or bus. It's just so much faster by air.

Figured there had to be a direct connection somewhere...

And often cheaper. I'll be flying from Munich to Berlin next month for
half the amount in airfare that it would cost me on the train. One
hour for the flight, as opposed to 6 hours by train, cheaper to
boot...no contest.

Ok so maybe the poster has a FEAR OF FLYING ? Many people do. I just
found the EUROLINES bus webpage
http://www.eurolines.com/belgium/index-fr.html which appears to show the
Madrid - Brussels bus as leaving at 17.00 and reaching Brussels at 14.00
the next day. But cannot tell the fare cost but this would need an
investigation in Madrid for the best prices on this route.

www.taxistop.be is an organization where travelers who have extra space in
their cars, buses, trucks offer other travelers a cheap ride (a few cents
per km). Reliable but sometimes difficult if you want to find exactly what
you want.
Check the links page (http://www.taxistop.be/4/4links.htm) it lists other
similar european organizations

I suspect this route is served by Alsa, as the schedule is exactly the same
(17:00-14:00). According to http://www.alsa.es it's 159€ r/t and 92€ o/w.

Is he also going to be taking a bus from Brazil to Madrid?

Usually when I'm able to plan in advance I take the train. But then I like
to)_Travel_...
The speed difference is relative. Between Madrid and Brussels most of the
traveling would probably be while sleeping...
