Default Difference between 1st and 2nd Class on ICE and IC Trains?

Could anyone please tell me the difference in 1st and 2nd Class
seating on ICE and IC trains?

I will be traveling from Frankfurt Airport to Eindhoven, Netherlands
on October 15th. I'm trying to find out the question above, plus where
do I store my large wheeled suitcase on the trains?

Thanks!!

Second Class is very comfortable. I'll be travelling exclusively 2nd class
train during my first 7 weeks in Germany this fall. There are areas in the
end of the cars where you can leave a large suitcase. I've never had a problem with it, but I never leave valuables in those suitcases. I, also, will be
travelling with a large suitcase.

First class has more room and costs 50% more. It seems that you are
going for the first time. Take a look at my page on using the trains in
Europe.

How large is large? Here are some tips for lugging luggage around
Europe. Pack light is your best strategy.

My thoughts exactly, except sometimes you can't. I'll be in Europe form
September 30 to December 4, and both the length of a trip and the fact
that it happens as the weather is changing mean that I will need a lot of
stuff. Since I'm going for classes, and for 4 weeks at a time can park most
of my stuff, I'm taking 2 bags; a big wheeled suitcase for the stuff that
I'll mostly park, and a backpack style bag to go places on weekends.

So I'll be in the same situation as the OP some of the time.

1st Class costs more and has less people. The seats are marginally
more comfortable.

You will find somewhere. There's usually plenty of space.

There is some marginal difference in the comfort of the seats, but the real
difference is how crowded the compartment will be. The only time I think it
is worthwhile to pay for 1st class is when I travel at peak times on busy
routes. Even then, it is seldom really necessary or even important.

At the end of the cars there is space for large suitcases.

Actually, the only time I travel first class is when second class is
full.

Beat me to it, PLUS when somebody else pays.

Isn't there more space for suitcases in first class than in second? Or does
this vary?

Yes, there is. But, for what it is worth, I have almost never had any
problem finding space in 2nd class. (The exception was traveling during the
first day of school holiday.

My 2 cents: Even if 1st class costs substantially more than 2d
class, and the comfort of the seats and luggage space in 1st class
is only slightly better, considering how much I'm spending on the
trip over-all, I'm gonna indulge myself and partake of this minor
luxury. =R=

Feel free :)

Actually, I do sit in 1st sometimes .. when I want to read or sleep.
Conversations are more likely and more interesting in 2nd, though.

Normally but not always. Sometimes you'll find that 1cl have the same size
as 2cl.
And the price isn't always 50% more,
In Norway, as an example the Komfort 1cl is at 75NOK supplement regardless
of distance.
In Sweden you may find prebooking 1cl tickets at a lower price than 2cl,
same train !!

On those trains, wouldn't you be able to prebook 2nd class cheaper than
prebooked 1st? I used to take first class on Virgin because, due to an
odd discrepancy in their booking requirements, you could prebook peak
trains for about a third of the price. They eventually got rid of that
little 'error' though...

Likewise the Dutch NS used to sell tickets in NL for unlimited travel
for X days on BR that unintentionally included the night sleeper to
Scotland, for less than the night sleeper fare.
