our arrangement with a tour operator just fell through. we were
planned to visit Barcelona for for the new year. Any suggestions for a
apartment for five nights??

There are quite a few offered at these websites: www.expatriates.com,
www.barcelonaconnect.com and possibly (but not certain) on www.loquo.com.
It's also not too late to post a request (free) to the first 2 sites.
Christmas and New Year's activity has been rather high lately.
