Yep, the weather will be ok. Sabah is called the "land above the wind",
meaning that it skips the monsoon which hits the eastern coast of
peninsular Malaysia in Nov-Feb.

Thanks for answering. Just one more question... Is the weather okay in
Eastern Sabah during that time? (We plan to dive Sipadan and
surrounding areas)

Should be, although I'm not 100% sure. I did the Mt Kinabalu climb in a
December and in a January and both times had good weather. I'd also
guess that since the region around Sipadan is even more protected from
the NE monsoon, the weather should be ok. By the way, I think Sipadan is
closed by now and you have to stay in one of the neighbouring islands.

You are correct. Accommodations on the island were shut down, effective
January 1, 2005. I feel most fortunate to have been able to stay on the
island in the spring of 2004.
Here's a quote:
Announcement
Sipadan Island, Malaysia's only oceanic island has no more overnight
facilities and all dive operators there have moved out. Day-diving trips in
Sipadan will be organised from other islands, such as Kapalai and Mabul
Islands. The governmental move to liberate the island is to ensure Sipadan's
unique flora & fauna will not deteriorate but remain a pristine wildlife
haven for future generations to enjoy.

I should add that I found the accommodations on Mabul to be far superior to
those on Sipadan, though Mabul is no where near as beautiful an island. Day
boats still go over to Sipadan for diving.
