EAD/AP dependent upon Biometrics
Is the issuance of the EAD/AP dependent upon the biometrics (other than requiring the photograph which is used on the card)? In other words if we get the EAD/AP does that mean that the application has passed the biometrics stage?
Apologies if this has been asked before but quite curious. Thanks |
Re: EAD/AP dependent upon Biometrics
Not sure what you mean? You got your EAD/AP already?
You know you passed (completed, as opposed to "did not fail" - it is not a test) the biometrics stage if you went to the appointment and had a photo and fingerprints taken. Did you do that? |

I suppose you could "not pass" as sometimes happens, if they deem your fingerprints were not readable; in that case they'll call you back to get them done again. Once you have the EAD and AP in hand, you know you passed for sure! Rene |
Re: EAD/AP dependent upon Biometrics
Is this your first application?...
Not all EAD's and Advance parole applications ask for fingerprints. Having applied now for my 5th EAD, I haven't had fingerprints taken for the last two times. The Card comes printed with the words "Fingerprint not available". A |

Yes. And EAD and AP will not be issued until the biometrics are done.
You will know you passed the biometrics stage when you've gone to the appointment and they've taken your fingerprints and photo. Rene I mean if you are issued with the EAD/AP card does that mean that there were no issues found with your biometrics or have they nothing to do with each other? If, for instance, I had a previous criminal record that I hadn't declared but that would be found once my fingerprints were taken would they still issue the EAD/AP or would that halt the process? Note: I am just curious: I do not have a murky criminal past! :) |
Re: EAD/AP dependent upon Biometrics
The biometrics which are associated with the EAD and AP are not a background or criminal check. So if you have a criminal history, it won't be found out by doing the biometrics for the EAD and AP.
If you are doing an Adjustment of Status process, and you've filed an I-485, it might be the biometrics associated with THAT application which has the background and criminal check done. Rene |
