Hello!
Is anyone using Les Mighalls?
One of my freind has been using her but its been months he has not heard anything back from her. He has already paid the fee and all his original papers are with her!! He is dead scared!!!

According to the MARA registry he ceased being an agent in 2011. https://www.mara.gov.au/AgentLapsed/...x?FolderID=396

Has your friend tried contacting the agency where Les used to work?

Hi Dorothy,

it's punoo's friend. I just found out yesterday that Les ceased being a registered agent in November last year. We still had contact via email after that date and he still seemed to work on my residency.

Les was the CEO of "Migration Assistance Australia" and he relocated longer time ago. (he even told me when he did so)
I tried calling the office, but the number seems not longer to exist.

Then I would try contacting MARA and asking them to get involved with getting your documents back.

I will contact them, but already on there first page they advice that they can only take action, if the agent is a registered agent.
So I talked to the department of fair trading and they told me, for them getting involved, the company, in this case "Migration Assistance Australia", has to be registered, which I can figure out on asic.gov.au. .Have to call them again, cause I couldn't work it out yet.
I am curious if there are more clients that have the same kind of issues with this agent.

Les was a MARA registered agent. Legally he could not have continued to work on your case, in Australia, if he ceased to be registered. As he was registered your first port of call should be MARA. They will know if other people have similar issues.
I can terll you that no-one else has reported it on here - as Les is a former poster (in his capacity as an agent) we would've noticed.

Les is/was a dentist as well as a migration agent in Victoria.

Hello Pollyana,
MARA can't give me the information if other people have been complaining about Les cause of privacy reasons. I will put in a complain this weekend and hope to get into contact with an officer to get some more information.
Still wonder that I seem to be the only one having this issue with him. He always talked about how busy he is and that he will try finding an other certified agent to help him out.
I shouldn't have to go through all this and trying to find a way to get to my rights. Obviously somebody did something wrong and just seems to get a way with it. In what kind of system are we living?!

MARA should be able to suggest routes you can take to obtain your paperwork. If he lodged your application with DIAC you also need to ensure that DIAC are informed that he is no longer your agent.

Thanks Pollyana, I will let the DIAC know. Even though I called them first and they told me to contact MARA. I asked the DIAC if there is anything in progress to see if Les lodged in an application for me.
Just did some more research considering MiekeNL's comment about the dentist Dr Leslie Mighalls. I think it's one and the same person.
What possibilities do you think do I have to get the part of my money back that I never received a service for?

For sure this is the same person and the number is active. I would imagine and hope that there has been a gross misunderstanding somewhere along the line and I would try that number. I think there is a 100% chance of you recouping your monies back.

I would call that number first and if no joy I would contact Mara immediately. There have been some recent changes on consumer protection.
Also if you paid by credit card, there should be an option for you to claw back your monies.

Seeing I live in Melbourne, it was easy to make a phone call for you.
He is no longer at the dental practice I gave you but now works at the following.
He was working as I speak.

I would give him a ring. Being a professional man, I would find it hard to imagine that he would have done a bunk! I most sincerely hope you manage to rectify this.

Les did our family visas and he didnt strike me as someone who could rip you off. so lets hope this has been a gross misunderstanding.
