Singapore flight connections

I am flying Perth-Singapore-Hong Kong breaking the journey in Singapore for a few days in Thailand. Kayak is showing my options for the side trip out of Changi as Thai AirAsia, Jetstar Asia and Tiger Airways. I've flown Tiger before and know that they operate out of the budget terminal but don't know about the other two. How much time do I need to allow for when connecting from my Singapore Air flight to one of the others?

Don't you need an hour before flight to check in and say 40 minutes after the plane lands to be sure of baggage collection and 15 minutes to change terminals.
What about plane delays from Perth.

I think I'd give it 2.5 hours.

Hi we have flown with all 3 airlines from Perth with connecting onward flights, I never leave less than 1 hour between my connecting flights, depending on who you choose your flight with they are all much of a muchness although had larger plans when we have flown in Asia with them. Enjoy Hong Kong we really enjoyed our holiday there.

Yes I was thinking of atleast 1 hour but you're probably right to allow for 2 (or so).

I've used Jetstar Singapore to Penang, then back again. Seems like a good airline and sensible website (unlike AirAsia). They fly out of the main Changi terminal.

If we had to use "low cost" Airlines again on your side of the world then Jet Star would be the best to use but if it comes down to price then I would not be bothered as long as I got on a plane lol but as I have said before we have flown with AirAsia, Tiger and Jet Star and the only one I would really not be to keen on is Tiger as they cancelled the flight we had booked to Kota without much notice and just refunded the money without any real reason on the cancellation, that might of been a one off though. Good luck and with Air Asia, we use to just walk to the other Terminal with our luggage it was not much of a problem as we always had plenty of time with connecting flights, even stopped for a coffee etc.

Agree with you about Tiger. Flew once, never again.

Hi we last visited Penang in 2008, not long after we heard that the City Centre had been awarded a World Heritage Listing, have the lovely old buildings been renovated because of that? also a little Gem of a Hotel was the Eastern Orient Hotel not as well know as Raffles etc but still had plenty of charm without all the Gloss.

A bit off topic...oops :o ... the E&O has been renovated and looks real nice currently. Some buildings in Georgetown are getting the makeover, some not. I have to say I'm not a great fan of Georgetown, hate the traffic, and somewhat swayed by the fact that I got my shoulderbag snatched there a couple of months ago. You have to watch it.

I'm retired so I live up on the Northern retirement belt of the island, a tad quieter. If anyone wants any info about Penang, come visit us over in the Malaysia forum on here
