I know it was changed in 2004 but does anyone remember when exotic dancers where considered to be filling a skills shortage and hence being granted positive LMO's. I would have definitley considered going down this route ;)

But on a serious note, after reading about this loophole and some of the things that happened, I felt quite disgusted in the fact that these girls where being brought to canada on promise of a nice job etc only to be forced into the sex industry. Well done to the government for getting rid of the loophole. If only they could control the current flow of eastern europeans being forced to work in the UK.

1. Hmmm, the thought has crossed my mind as a way to getting into Canada (only if they provide me with beaver fur knickers) and ...

2. Why are you so worried about eastern europeans coming into the UK when you're in Canada? I don't have a problem with them, as long as they work. Most of the time they're doing jobs that we don't want to do. I find a lot of them are in the restaurant trade anyhow. As long as they do a good job.

There has been some talk lately about Poles coming to the UK.

Are you alluding to these particular East Europeans earning an honest living in the UK?

Or is it the case of East Europeans ending up as Ladies of the Night in the UK.

There are a lot of east europeans/polish women working in the sex trade in the UK. I dont know if they are forced to or not but i think that is what was being referred to

Just thought I would add my twopenneth to this quote above.

There are alot of eastern european girls - and i say girls as alot of them are barely 16 years old - being sold into the UK's Sex Industry. They are promised a load of twosh and how much better their life will be and then they are near kept as slaves being locked up in brothels.

The only thing that gets them out of the situation is when the police raid the brothel - their pimps wont allow them out of the building most of the time. Most of these girls are brought into the UK illegally and in some cases their parents dont even know where they are.

I went to a customer on the south coast the other day and the majority of their production staff are Poles. I must assume that they are very reliable good workers as there are so many and it is a big modern company not some back street sweatshop. One of the girls in the area i was in was absolutely stunning and would not look out of place in FHM magazine so all i can say is bring em all in, lots of them so we can fill Blighty up with beautiful people. :D

Yes, this is what i am alluding to, the girls promised a "better life" then locked away.

I have no problem with the Poles, as an engineer on site in the UK we had many a pole come work for us, and i have to say they are some of the most courteous and hard working people I've ever seen. They put a lot of British workers to shame, especially the lazy "i can't get a job because of all the poles so i'll sign on" bums.
