How much cash can you take into Australia?
 

On a tourist visa, how much cash can you carry with you entering the country? I will have both Aus$ and US$. :cool:

AUD10000. Anything above this can be brought in but must be declared. There is a series on TV here about border control. A passenger tried to bring AUD50000 in without declaring it. He got pulled up & was given a hard time but was allowed in with it eventually.

You can actually bring in $10 000 per person. We were around $5000 over and didnt bother declaring it. We didnt have any problems and all our bags where scanned etc.

I am presuming that this is the physical cash limit that you may bring with you. Not the entire limit transfered into back accounts etc.?
