Worms for Compost
Exactly where can I buy them here in the Algarve, or the Loule area? Just find them....

Re: Worms for Compost
All you do is place your Compost Bin on soil.
Then start to fill it up.
I did this a long time back & within a few weeks it was heaving with the small red worms, that always seem to appear in compost heap's.
Remember to soak the compost if the weather hot , if it dry's out ,the "system" fails completely !
If it's place on concrete then you may have to source worms.
Then start to fill it up.

Before you buy, give yourself a week (although that might be a short timescale at this time of year)..........
a) Find a piece of cardboard or board c.1M sq.
b) select an area of earth with vegetation, or bare earth and add some pulled greens.
c) Soak it well with water
d) Cover the area with your board
e) leave for 4-5 days
If at the end of this time you don't see any red worms when you lift the board, then you might want to buy. If you do, spend the cash on a few bottles of decent Tinto and toast mother nature!!

We don't eat our pets but I'll happily fire up the BBQ and that with a few glasses of vinho is always a wonderful thing to share with good company.
