Sines - Tall Ships april 28th - may 1st
Sines - on the west coast - roughly half way between Lisbon and the Algarve is a long established historical seaport - famed for its association with Vaso De Gama
This year it is hosting the tall ships race
So far over 20 of these remarkable ships are due to take part
They'll all be moored in the ports here and you will be able to go aboard
there are also many other events happening to celebrate
live music food and wine events and much more

Sines RDV 2017 – Aporvela – Associação Portuguesa de Treino de Vela
Município de Sines / Falta pouco para a chegada dos grandes veleiros a Sines
well worth a visit

I've I've been to this twice before . Would love to see it in Sines thanks for that info I was looking for somewhere to go. I see it's on over a few days so I'll come and stay over 1 night. Anything you would recommend not to miss?

Re: Sines - Tall Ships april 28th - may 1st
Sines is a nice enough place to wander around - old streets - a museum - beautiful seafront - but its also on its outskirts very industrial - the 3rd biggest port in Europe - also gas oil and an EDP power station - sometimes it stinks - especially to the north - so i stick to the centre
much nicer are beautiful beaches to the South - Porto Covo - 10 mins is a lovely little beach village - nice restaurants - often we go and are the only ones on the beach - further south vila nova milfontes and zambujeira do mar also lovely
10 mins to the north is a nice slightly inland lagoon and miles of deserted beaches at Santo Andre
Thers also an official walk - rota vicentina fisherman's trail - starting just South of Sines and going all the way to the Algarve - beautiful and easy to do a small part of in a few hours
this is the program
i saw Raquel Tavares live in Lisboa and really enjoyed it - very much the cheerful end of Fado - some of the really sad stuff is hard work - ive occasionally thought - attacking a cat with a strimmer - but this woman is great - very happy pop fado
my wifes family were in the navy and she loves all of the traditional stuff on saturday - bands orchestras etc
they have a lot of sponsorship and have supposedly the best djs in Portugal here every night - so boogey nights - if thats for you
Sunday is a bit religious - mass choirs etc but i sure beautiful if its for you
monday is race start and you'll get a great view from Porto Cove - isla Pessegueiro if you like to see them sailing
