Cheap International Calls, Prepaid SIM Deals, International SIM
One thought - if you are short stay from the UK remember Roaming rates have changed since June, check with your operator and see if you really need a local SIM

I have a Vodaphone prepaid sim that I bought 3 years ago and have not topped it up for about 2 years and it still works. The fact that I receive calls on it keeps it from being recycled.
I have a paid Skype account that I use to phone fixed lines and cellphones on my cellphone via wifi.

Yes, expensive, but reliable, because depending when you're coming, access to most providers in high summer can be flaky due to high volumes of traffic. If you're here for, say, periods of 15 days, they do data packages to suit.
IMO you're better off making a (painful) one-off wi-fi dongle purchase & floating along on PYG depending on your stay/s.

For a tablet or net-book, Vodaphone PT offer a mobile wi-fi box & PYG pre-paid sims depending on your stay.
