Rain in Tavira
Rain!!!!
I have lived in Tavira for 20 years and this is the worst winter. Some years it rains for 1 day.
I know that we need the rain but this is odd. In Wales it is snowing!!!!!

Re: Rain in Tavira
This has been the best week in years here on the west coast; finally, some decent rainfall.
Not enough to replenish the reservoirs, but at least we have some greenery for the moment.
Hopefully, we'll have some more rainy days and nights in the next couple of months before the dread dryness of summer sets in.
Rain is not bad weather; rain is life. If we don't get more rain, southern Portugal will become desert.
Not the sweet nice kind we like after dinner; the dead sandy Sahara kind.

But according to the historic figures, Lisbon area is, and always has been much wetter than Norwich except for 4 moths of the year,
My 30 year experience of the Algarve supports those figures, but my home in UK is in the East.
I cannot remember the last Easter that was without cloud, cold and rain in the Algarve

Re: Rain in Tavira
The Iberian peninsula, and southern Portugal in particular, has been drying out for the last few decades.
Climatologists have said so, and even before than the old farmer next door told me the same thing.
He said there used to be too much rain, floods were what people worried about. Then slowly, steadily, les and less.
Now we're into a prolonged multi-year drought where we haven't had enough precipitation to replenish water levels from the year before; ground water is receding.
In areas close to the sea, if water continues to be extracted as it is now, saline water will infiltrate the aquifers.
So for me, "good" weather is rain. A rainy day is a happy day at our house.
