Some off you may remember this horrific incident , after several attempt's by the Police Authorities to "smooth over" what took place , they have finally been pushed into a corner & the Officer involved has at last been charged & will appear in court as a defendant !

Good! Perhaps it may calm down other PSP from being so will to attack innocent people. I've been to a few big games in Portugal and quite honestly there's many a thug standing with a baton and a uniform in the disguise of someone who is supposed to protect people, eager for a bit violence!

Yes, thank goodness nothing like that could ever happen in the UK, eh?

... ... But then again, when I saw PSP in the thread I remembered the parking thing I had a couple of months back when I (accidentally) parked in spaces that were apparently Police reserved, & a guy in civvies very politely told me on my return, while two uniforms wearing shades eyed me over from nearby. At the time I thought the sign at the end row was PPS or something like that..... maybe it was PSP.....
I suppose that's the diffference, it doesn't strike Brits that the UK is nearly unique in having a civilian force.

Lesson :- Never take anything you read in the PT National Press as a "given"
Now the above trial has been rescheduled to take place in April 2018

Because there was not Court Room vacant today !!!!!!

Finally 3 years after this disgusting attack, PSP Officer Filipe Silva is going to be present in court today in Guimarães
The charges against him have grown , not only is he being charged for the brutal attack , he is also now being accused off "Falsifying Documents & Denial off Fact's"

This link provides full info on the incident which took place

https://www.algarvedailynews.com/new...-years-in-jail

The general opinion amongst my PT friends ,is that the "higher up's" in the PSP have done there level best to kill this case off before it got this far, but public opinion happily prevailed

OMG , In todays Correio da Manha (national paper)
It's reported that this officer is to appear in another court on the 7th off this month , the charges relate to a incident that took place years ago
when somebody else got "hammered"
Seems his friends in "high places" are distancing them selves from him !

Oh well it's over , more or less ?
He was sentenced to 3 years in Prison , but suspended , & ordered to pay 7.000 €'s in compensation to the two adult victims.
They are Father & Son , the 2 grandchildren who witnessed there dad & grandfather get a hammering where not brought into the equation.
Obviously the Defence Attorney stated that his client will appeal the sentence , but one off the Judges in his summing up stated
" A picture is worth a thousand words " so the appeal could be kicked into touch before it even get's off the ground.
No indication at all as what the PSP higher authorities intend to do in regard to the "officer" found guilty !

Now it's finally over
Sentence now :- 3.5 years suspended - Any public servant who is sentenced to over 3 years, automatically has they contact terminated .
The compensation stands , this recourse was requested by the Public Ministry ,as they where unhappy with the original verdict
