Portugal/European Scooter Scene
Just wondered if anyone was into Scootering, seems quite popular around here, like to get into it. Trips, tours, meeting and events.
Haven't learned the language here yet, but time's a-wasting.

I just saw a restored classic Vespa with sidecar for sale on a facebook group; not my thing at all [I like 2 wheels and lots of HP, grunt].
But it's a very pretty object for someone who's enthusiastic about such things.

Vespa Clube de Portugal
At least once a year there is a "Vespa Rally" in my area , 100's off them & all in tip top condition , a great many off them I think would be regarded as Classic's.

Re: Portugal/European Scooter Scene
Went to our first Vespa rally yesterday near Mira, found a couple of people who spoke English who gave a few words and no one else even acknowledged us at all. It was though we were invisible and we were both very embarrassed, so we left after an hour.
After such a short time here not sure whether this is Portugal, the Vespa folk, or us, didn't hang around for the ride and won't go back this morning for the main run.
This was not an international event as we saw only Portuguese scooters, anyway came away thinking have we come to live in the wrong place. Yes a bit quick to judge I know, but this leaves a sour taste, I have heard the Portuguese are standoffish but this is ridiculous.

Certainly the Portuguese people I've met have been incredibly friendly, welcoming & generous & in my 6 years here, I've come across just 2 people who displayed anything other than that......... both were cops & on both occasions, their colleagues pulled them away & apologised to me for their rudeness & sent me on my way.

Perhaps it might be the Scooter mob rather than the people as a whole?

That said it could be a one off, just threw me a little.

Yes, most of the people we meet day to day have been friendly, it surprised me that this bunch weren't. Maybe it is the one make club thing, I remember hearing that the Jaguar owners club was a bit stuck up and a few others too, glad we had joined a classic car club, which was very sociable.
