The new sewage system in Portimao is programmed to function as of March 7, 2018.
Total investment 11 million euros.

We drive past, 2,3 times a week.
If it is ready in March I will be very surprised.
It will mean the end of poorly or untreated sewage being discharged by Portimao but not those towns up stream.
Plus of course centuries of sewage in the mud.
I have always been amazed at the fisherman on the bridge who seem immune to the smell that at times is so strong you could cut it with a knife.
