Parking Meters
As many Algarve councils are now waking up to the benefits of charging for parking, sigh, I noticed that some of them are accepting payment through Via Verde, there will be a sticker on the payment machine. If you already have a VV account and the VV app on your phone you can download the parking add-on and park without fiddling for the correct change. It also looks like you can add extra cars to the account, even those with foreign plates.

Re: Parking Meters
I doubt they'll mind if you pay to park in a free spot but I'm curious how they'll enforce the requirement to pay for parking.

Re: Parking Meters
There's an app you have to use - you record your stay via that and the wardens have access to the database to check if you have.

That sounds reasonable.
I assume one needs to have a "smart" phone.
I don't, but then I don't often need to pay for parking either.

Lorks I can just see how this is going to go. You think you have paid and then the barrier refuses to go up ,and you have three cars behind you !!!
I'm getting a tad fed up with all this techno stuff. Friend of mine heartily agrees. Just bought a brand new Volvo that refused to let him out of the car the other day.
Went into default setting because he pressed some button he shouldn't have...locked all the doors. He had to crawl out through the back hatch.
Once again it was that tiny bit of cheap plastic that failed in the door locking system, i am amazed he got into the potential death trap ever again
