Default Out of hours Faro airport

For the first time ever we are landing in the evening next month and will have to pay an out of hours charge when collecting our hire car. Will the infamous P4 office be open at 9pm?

Your hirer will tell you where to meet your rep.
Depending who you have booked with you may have a transfer bus to collect your car.

We collectec our car on weds morning from P4 a number of tourists following their booking instructions arrived at tne booth in P4 to be told to wait
for the tranfer bus. There are at least 3 of the larger companies who now operate this way.
Lets hope that their prices do not include the 15euro airport charges.

You should be OK up until about midnight. My son (a couple of years back it's true) flight was due shortly after 23:00 and he was directed to P4 as usual. Unfortunately his flight was delayed so that he didn't clear immigration etc until after midnight. All the car hire places were closed by then and he had to wait in the airport until 08:00 to collect his car.

Mike J if your son had let the car hire company know he was going to be delayed, they might have offered to put the keys under the visor, they did this for us think we landed 1:30 once, I have to say we always check our arrival times when choosing car hire as those pesky out of hours rates are different with all the companies.

They don't let you phone from the plane!

I don't see how that would work anyway if you haven't signed the paperwork you wouldn't have the papers to make you legal. Not saying it didn't happen but unless you could get back to Faro first thing in the morning they would have no deposit and no idea where their car was. Unless you had an account or were a regular customer. My lad was neither.
We have often returned the car with keys under the visor but never collected.

You do quite often know you are going to be delayed before you get on the plane, no acc just regulars, and appreciate your son wasn't, and was just saying they were helpful to us, we also dropped someone off at resort who had been rung by the car company to say pick your car up in the morning from Faro!.

Fortunately, our hire company does not charge us for after nine arrival or departure. They also don't use P4 any longer, told us to use P1 the last three times we've been and this seems to be working OK
