Re: Missing 3 yr old, Praia da Luz
It's a tradition,a compulsion even. We have a country full of them in England. There is no such thing as an accident here - there has to be blame. That's how we earned the title "whinging poms" from the Aussies. There always has to be something to moan about and someone to blame. And in this case it's firstly the parents and now the Portuguese police.
If you watched Trevor Mcdonald's special on this tradgedy last night, you will have seen a couple of psychologists and a criminal profiler, and all stressed that the parents couldnt be blamed, and that the people who blamed them were reactive and judgemental.
I think the Portuguese police are doing a fine job given the circumstances and the facilities they have to work with. The fact that they do not divulge every little titbit to the media irks our armchair critics and that is why the police are being criticized.

Differing opinions aside, I think we all hope for the same outcome don't we and that is the safe return of this little girl to her parents.
I do so hope she is found and found soon.

The media are a pain in the butt:curse:
On the news the other day they interviewed the Brit who is coordinating the search on behalf of the other expats in the area and he said the PT police were doing a good job under difficult circumstances. Then they rolled out a retired English copper who said they should have done this and that.
Another programme highlighted the system they have in the states where, when a child is abducted, they flash it up on the overhead displays on the motorways. Of course they conveniently miss out the fact that child abductions are much more common here and in the states
Keep taking the pils

just another case of the brits thinking they do everything better than someone else, they should just let the powers that be , do their job, also this type of " stating the obvious" and "opinions for the sake of opinions" type of reporting, ala , trevor mcdonald is just the type that the portugeuse refuse to be drawn into and good for them, all extremely unhelpful and selfindulgent, findind madeline now relies on good police work, cooperation and luck, anything else is immaterial, certainly dont need to hear from those not even connected with the case.

Latest reports are.... that CCTV footage in a Petrol station may have her on camera with 2 men and a woman, the CCTV also got the car reg.(which was British) nothing confirmed yet that it WAS her. Also reports of the Police sealing off a village near the border(not sure if its in Spain or Portugal).

just spoken to the wife and she seems to be of the opinion that she had heard that the parents had been taken to a sealed location near seville, anyone else heard anything?
