You can always just ask at financas whether you have anything outstanding, and when to expect upcoming bills.
They just punch your tax number in, and your whole life appears on the screen.

IMI is getting expensive but still much cheaper than UK's council tax....Thats what the IMI is for i think? The council.

No wonder they had to put the tax up people were paying next to nothing before, how could the council keep doing the things they needed if the tax bill was low. Money has to come from somewhere...They need to rise the minimum wage though! Plus ask DECO to simulate an evaluation on your property as the IMI is calculated on how much the property is worth and where it's located. Lots of people are paying more because their house used to be worth more. So if your property has gone down on value so has your IMI.

Hi,

the 162x2 is based on the value of your house.

I have not had a bill before because I had 8 years free, which was fantastic!

But this year is my 1st. I bought my house for 90,00 in 2005, will my bill be based on that price or a higher price as it has been renovated.

Not sure if it has to be officially revalued or sold at the higher price.
Mine was €225 9 years ago which was approx £150 a difference from now

Feel happier now that I have received my password from Portals Finance. At least I can now see what is happening just in case my bill gets lost en route to the UK.

Little confused here. We have only ever received one bill each per year for our 2 bed flat always somewhere around 200 euros. Gone up a bit this year. Should we have received a second bill? We are not resident - come over about 6 times year. Does that make a difference? Our place is in Tavira.

Got my bill from solicitor now but as I already got it from financas I won't have to pay them €158 to pay it for me

Thank you Richard - that sorts that and is a relief really although I am sure they would have chased us if we owed money.

Hello,

Sorry if I'm being a little thick but is IMI the annual land tax against the land you own/and what is on it/used for? Does the rate have anything to do with the value of the building on it or just the footprint?

Are you saying that it is now possible to receive the annual bill electronically rather than by snail mail?

Can I now pay online and if so how do I do, I'm with Banco Espirito?

Is it possible to set this bill to be paid automatically annually?

I have to say I have been late paying on a couple of occasions and received a late payment charge each time.

Many thanks.
